A close monitoring of Nigeria’s Consumers’ Value Awards (CVA) voting portal over the last 30 days of the commencement of voting, has consistently signify that it’s a “payback time for brands loyal to their promises and faithful to the consumer cause”, BrandCrunch reports.
It will be recalled that exactly a month ago, the organisers of the CVA, a unique kind of verifiable award system for brand, Consumer Value Broadcasting, activated the voting platform. This has been followed by a deluge of activities on the site as consumers gleefully cast their votes by the second, for their brands of choice.
The hyper activities observed goes in tandem with the expectation of the CEO, Consumer Value Broadcasting, Akonte Ekine, who reckons that the awards programmed to be the “most authentic” aims at celebrating the values enjoyed by the consumers through the votes which show that various consumers of products are happy with what they experienced. “We are attempting to build feedback or contribute to the feedback mechanism with very authentic and verifiable evidence of the claims of the brands through simple consumers’ votes for the brands. This is the consumers’ power of expression”, Akonte had told BrandCrunch in a previous interview.
Observations from the voting portal reveal a handful of brands in early lead in what is set to be the most genuine consumer choice awards. These early leaders include GTBank leading the banking sector award for value for money Bank service with 40%; MTN while Milo leads the Tech category and Beverage category with 63% and 64% respectively.

According to Ogunniyi, a Communication Expert and Brand Enthusiast, two months period is a long time in voting, the level playing field is yet wide open for all consumers to impact their brands and give a hand in celebrating those brands based on values enjoyed and loyalty to the cause of the consumers in the real sense of the word, by casting their votes on the platform.
Over 30 categories are listed for consumers to vote for or against a brand action in the marketplace based on service experience and brand encounter.
Speaking on the outcome of the one-month voting so far, Akonte in a telephone chat with BrandCrunch commended consumers that have visited the website to cast votes for supporting the initiative with their votes while also urging every discerning consumer yet to vote, to visit the site and cast his/her for their brands of choice.
