The Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Emmanuel Oriakhi, and 42 others have been conferred with the Fellowship of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN). The conferment took place during the Fellows’ Dinner and Awards organized by the Institute at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Similarly, forty-two other senior marketing professionals in the country also bagged NIMN fellowship. They include Mr. Wasiu Ola Abiola, Head of Media, Digital, Brand PR and Sponsorship, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Dr. AdefuluAdesoga Dada, Associate Professor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Babcock University, Ogun State, and Mr. Olu Akanmu, Executive Director-Retail Banking, First City Monument Bank, amongst others.
Oriakhi, the Nigerian Breweries Plc top shot, is a seasoned marketer with almost two decades of brand and marketing experience. As the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, he is responsible for the development and implementation of all Marketing and Trade Marketing activities covering the full array of NB Plc’s portfolio.
In similar vein, Wasiu Ola Abiola is currently the Head of Media, Digital, Brand PR and Sponsorship, Nigerian Breweries Plc. In this position, he operates as the Strategic Adviser to the company on Integrated Marketing Communication. He also leads in two-way relationship management between the Heineken Global Team in Amsterdam and the Nigerian OpCo to drive local application of media innovation, share and re-apply strategies and overall capability building on Marketing Media Management.
Wasiu, as he is fondly called, is a consummate brand builder with years of experience and many success stories. He is one of the few with the privilege of practicing Marketing Management on both agency and client sides. He joined Nigerian Breweries in 2010 on a Mid-career level as Marketing Media Manager and rose steadily to become Head of Media and Digital in June, 2015.
On his part, the Executive Director-Retail Banking, First City Monument Bank, Mr. Olu Akanmu, who was also conferred with the Fellowship of NIMN is an experienced commercial leader in various aspects such as consumer goods, manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications and financial services at very senior levels with successful track records.
Prior to his current position, Akanmu was the Chief Marketing Officer at Airtel Nigeria and Marketing Director/CEO Retail Banking at former Bank PHB. He holds degrees of Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and Lagos State University, respectively.
He also holds a distinction in the Management Advancement Program of the Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Business Research from the Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom. A transformational and quintessential leader, strong galvanizer of people and organization builder, he is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and also a Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy.
On hand to give the keynote address at the event was Professor Chris Ogbechie, a professor of Strategic Management at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. He spoke on the topic: “Driving Growth in a Turbulent Environment”.
