In the quest to bridging the gap between in the digital marketing space, Lagos Digital Academy (LDA), a social enterprise committed to teaching and inspiring new generation of digital professionals and entrepreneurs has been unveiled in Lagos.
The Managing Director of LDA, Mr Dotun Babatunde said digital marketing has been the passion of many people but there is no former training to guide them. According to him, as the marketing communication is getting clustered, there is need to equip future generation.
“The marketing communication industry in Nigeria is getting cluster but more importantly is that there is a huge skill gap when it comes to digital marketing. So giving the decades of experience of the LDA team, we came up with a way to equip the future generations and executives who have been in tuned to the traditional advertising and marketing platforms but do not understand how best to plug in digital to the equation as digital is part of every form of communications. This way out is LDA.
‘’A lot of people see digital as standalone platform, it’s what we can plug into anything we do because there is no barrier to entering. It is important to equip people who want to work in agencies and other areas’’ ” He added.
Also speaking, Co-Founder, Lagos Digital Academy, Mr Kunle Shittu said digital knowledge is very important in business but there is a big fissure. ‘’ We discovered that there is a market in the business of digital marketing however there is a very big gap and so we want to create market in the gap. We have thousands of sales representatives who do not know anything about digital marketing, thousands of young professionals who don’t have a clue. The essence is to understand trends and apply it to what you do’’ he said.
Tola Bademosi, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder, Lagos Digital Academy also said aside form business angle, there is need to adapt to digital knowledge because that is where the world id driving to as the academy is set to give massive social enterprise.
“the programmes and courses of the academy will be designed and tailored along different cliente, because the needs are different based on wants, professions and backgrounds. The programmes are going to empowering because knowledge without application is useless. Knowledge acquired must be applied so as to move from the current level to a higher one.”He said.
