On August 1st, fastest growing agency, X3M Ideas marked its second year anniversary of commencing business with the donation of educational aid ICT equipment to two secondary schools in Ikeja, Lagos.
Explaining the rationale behind the corporate social responsibility inclined anniversary celebration which is ingrained in the agency’s DNA, Steve Babaeko, the agency’s Chief Creativity Officer /CEO, revealed that the company is embarking on the project for the second year running with a view to continually make meaningful contribution towards the development of education in Nigeria.
Last year to mark its first year in business, X3M Ideas renovated the JSS 2 block of 5 classrooms at Opebi Junior High School, Awuse Estate, Opebi, Ikeja and equally provided furniture, fans and other fittings to make the classrooms conducive to learning.
“We committed ourselves to the project in recognition of the fact that education is the best legacy and we hope to affect the future of these children by providing conducive learning environment and needed tools for them”.
For X3M Ideas, CSR should be a marathon rather than a sprint as some organisations are wont to take it. “This is why we are following up on the same trajectory by donating ICT tools to enhance teaching of ICT in selected schools for our 2014 second year anniversary project”.
This is strategic and primed to affect the teaching and learning of ICT in schools especially now that ICT has not only become a part of the school curriculum in Lagos State but most operations in today’s global village revolve around ICT, we want to place the Nigerian child at a vantage position for tomorrow, explained Steve.
The Schools that benefitted from the X3M Ideas’ second anniversary CSR project are Oregun Senior High School, Oregun, Lagos. ICT tools donated and handed over to the school authority led by the principal, Mrs. Toyin Kuti and his Vice, Mrs. Idowu Deniga include: two Units of Laptops (pre-loaded with the required software/computer applications), one unit of Multimedia Projector, one unit of Tripod Projection Screen and 10 units of UPS.
In the same vein, Community High School Wasimi, Maryland, Lagos also got two units of Laptops (pre-loaded with the required software/computer applications), one unit of 2HP air-conditioners and 10 Units of UPS for its ICT classroom.

Addressing representatives of the student of the two schools at different presentation events over the weekend in Lagos, Babaeko advised that the students should avail themselves the best use of the tools with a view to learning to become solution centers as they grow up in life.
He enjoined other young and growing organisation to emulate socially responsible multinationals by affecting most importantly their immediate environment. This he explained will go a long way in supporting the good intentions of the government.
While eulogizing Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state and his team for putting education and technological education in particular on the front burner, the CEO of X3M Ideas revealed that the tools donated are the agency’s way of supporting the government to achieve its desired goal in raising ICT compliant leaders of tomorrow for the country.
According to Babaeko, a company does not necessarily have to be “so big” before engaging in CSR, it should as a matter of fact be a way of life for organisations. “Meaningful CSR is ingrained in our DNA, therefore, more of similar activities should be expected from us as an agency in the future”, he promised.
In her response, Mrs. Semiat Oluwatoyin, Principal, Wasinmi Community Junior High School, Maryland appreciated the donors revealing that ICT is now compulsory in Lagos State High Schools adding that the tools donated will compliment government effort in making the students technology compliant.
Similarly, Mrs. Toyin Kuti, Principal, Oregun Senior Secondary revealed that the items donated will help in outing the students on the cutting edge of technology.
