Similarly, a replacement for Mr. Annetts, out-going CMO MTN Nigeria is yet to be announced however, it is believed the group will not tarry in announcing a new candidate to fill this all important position in its highly competitive and highly rewarding operation.

It is believed the replacement will emerge from the group’s abundant pool of human resource talents which the MNC prides as “strong leadership succession pool”.

“MTN South Africa has a strong leadership succession pool due to our significant investment in building a sustainable supply of quality leaders. MTN is confident that Gouldie will make a meaningful contribution as a chief executive officer”, said Zunaid Bulbulia, CEO of MTN South Africa.

In the ten months since his appointment in August 2013, Gouldie has been responsible for redefining the competitive position of MTN South Africa. He has launched prepaid and postpaid converged products, with the most recent being the 79 cents voice and data offerings, the group said.

Annetts has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 15 years. In his most recent role as CMO of MTN Nigeria, he established MTN as the biggest distributor of music. Credit for MTN’s music innovation could largely be given to the company’s out-going CMO.
