30, 000 Teachers Benefit from Learn Africa’s Training Workshops

Foremost learning resource company, Learn Africa Plc, has trained over 30,000 teachers in over 100 workshops held in different states of the country that include Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, Kano and Benin to sharpen the skills of teachers in primary and secondary schools.

Participants were drawn from both public and private schools for the workshops which focused on English, Mathematics, Civic Education, Social Studies, Science and Technology, Economics, Government, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

At one of the workshops held in Lagos, Barrister (Mrs.) Olayinka Oladunjoye, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, commending Learn Africa Plc said, “I commend Learn Africa Plc for their laudable contributions in the education sector and their willingness to work hand-in-hand with government to develop the sector.”

While noting the efforts of government to enhance the skills of teachers, the Commissioner, who was represented by Mrs T. A. Idris, Director, Curriculum Services Department, challenged teachers to invest in their self-development in order to be abreast of latest pedagogical techniques and developments in their profession.

She enjoined the teachers to discharge their duties with love and fear of God, advising that the result of their efforts will show in the performance of their students. Barrister Oladunjoye however, charged the teachers that participated to share their knowledge with their colleagues.

In his address, Mr. Segun Oladipo, Sales and Marketing Director of Learn Africa Plc, informed the public that the training workshop is primarily designed to improve the quality of teaching-learning process in secondary education.

According to him, “participants will have the opportunity of refreshing and updating their knowledge and skills on the effective utilization of learning materials, expose teachers to time-tested tips that can be used to enrich their lessons, simplify the teaching of ideas, skills, concepts, motivate even the most reluctant learner, fire the imagination of pupils, encourage critical thinking, promote the spirit of enquiry, make lessons more interesting and meaningful as well as encourage class participation.”

“Equally remarkable is the fact that the series have been widely adjudged to be excellent in terms of contents adequacy, pedagogical appropriateness and production quality,” he said.

Expressing their satisfaction in participating in the workshop, teachers thanked the foremost resource company, Learn Africa, for their contribution to the furtherance of their teaching careers.

Ojen Blessing Eko, one of the teachers that participated in Port Harcourt , Rivers State, said, “I thank Learn Africa for imparting useful knowledge on the teachers on how to teach children. I really appreciate. May God bless you.”

In his own expression, Kyume Matthew Aondongu, Head of English department in one of the schools in Kaduna, said “I am really happy for this training.  I hope Learn Africa Plc will be doing this from time to time and always get me informed for this programme in future. Thank you.”

“The workshop is worth attending.  More workshop of this magnitude should be organized in other states,” Udoaka Solomon Bassey, Head of Mathematics department in one of the schools in Calabar said.

Every year, Learn Africa Plc runs teachers workshops across the nation to equip teachers with the latest educational skills and show them how best to use the resources from the company to improve the performance of their students.{jcomments on}
