In what is described as a rare movement pattern in the industry, Dare Olateju, an ex Project Manager, Marketing Innovation, Guinness and until recently a Senior Brand Manager, Malta Guinness, has left the services of Guinness Nigeria Plc for the agency side joining Optimum Exposures.
Making the announcement in Lagos, Optimum Exposures, a leading player in the outdoor Advertising sector, says bringing the Guinness’ guy as its new Head of Marketing, is part of its on-going repositioning exercise aimed at moving the company to greater height.
The new entrant into the Optimum’s team has garnered several years of experience in integrated marketing communications spanning brand management, innovation and new product development.
According to the company, Olateju whose appointment takes effect from November 1st this year will be responsible for developing Optimum Exposures brand, as well as developing and implementing a marketing plan for the business.
According to Olateju, there is nothing unusual about his new move. “It’s about the individual, your are the number one brand you manage . Therefore, your decisions depend on your preferences” he says.
Part of his new brief is also to develop a robust client serving culture for the company. Based on his experience, he is also expected to help develop marketing capabilities for marketers in Optimum Exposures. Other key deliverables include conducting marketing research, product quality promotion and new product development, portfolio management and pricing.
Bringing Olateju to Optimum Exposures was a coup of sort for the multiple-award winning outdoor advertising firm, as Olateju had spent the last nine years at global brand, Guinness Nigeria Plc, a Diageo company. During his time at Guinness, he held several brand managerial roles and was responsible for some new-to-world innovation launches before he was elevated to the position of Project Manager (Marketing Innovation) in 2007.
His early career path started from Nucleus Advertising as Client Service Executive from 1997-2001. He later joined LTC/J Walter Thompson as Business Development Executive from 2001-2002. This new movement shows Olateju’s uncanny love for advertising as he started out in Advertising as he makes a return after nine years.
Olateju who holds a Masters Degree in Administration (Marketing) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations, as well as B.A. in English.{jcomments on}
